Valero Texas Open

April 7, 2024

Over the weekend, the Valero Texas Open closed out their event with a playoff between Akshay Bhatia and Denny McCarthy. Bhatia conquered the playoff in one hole and took home the intricate Valero Texas Open trophy sculpted by Malcolm DeMille. Congratulations to Bhatia!

The iconic trophy features a crystal shaped Texas and Valero flag surrounded by hand sculpted San Antonio landmarks including: The Alamo, the San Fernando Cathedral, the Tower of Life, the Tower of the Americas, Frost Tower, Marriott River Center, the Torch of Friendship and of course the world-famous San Antonio River Walk.

The bronze perpetual trophy stands atop a three-tiered oak wood base that commemorates past champions of the Valero Texas Open going back to 1922, where the Champion’s trophy sits on a single-tier oak wood base. The team at Malcolm DeMille is proud to be a part of a historic event by creating this stunning trophy.
